It is reported that early morning public dancing can be found in Dzongyab Lukhang Park. Participants, typically older women wearing pearl necklace, perform synchronized Tibetan square dancing to Tibetan music. They are members of Dzongyab Lukhang fitness team. With an average age of nearly 60 years old, they, on behalf of China’s Tibet, will attend the national square dancing competition on Nov.

Tsetop ji, a 56-year-old fashionable member, said “ After retirement, I practice the square dancing with other members in the park every day. The physical quality is getting better. We have confidence in participating the coming national square dancing. 

Tsering yudron, one of the first members of Dzongyab Lukhang fitness team. With an age of 73 years old, she gives up attending this competition and does logistics for her team. “ In 1999, seeing people gathering in the park and dancing, I jointed them. Afterwards, there are more and more people taking part in this game. Until now, over 200 have joint this square dancing. Besides, thanks to the concerns and support from the government, square dancers are very happy.” said by Tsering yudron.

According to the Sports Bureau of China’s Tibet Autonomous Region, Lhasa, the capital of southwest China’s Tibet Autonomous Region, has three teams namely Aba lin community, Goje tang community and Dzongyab Lukhang fitness team,  participating in this national square dancing game. The coming national square dancing competition is supported by the State Sports Bureau and China’s community sports instructor association. The preliminary will be lasting from Sep. 9 to Oct. 10 in the way of public voting on the Tangdou.com. The teams having the qualification to make through go to Hainan Province for the final on Nov. 5. Luckily, 3 teams from China’s Tibet Lhasa all passed the preliminary.
