As the weather gets colder, many citizens of Lhasa, the capital of southwest China’s Tibet Autonomous Region, hope to be supplied heating with natural gas in winter. On Oct.12, Wangwei, stationmaster of Lhasa Natural Gas Station, Kunlun Power Co.ltd, China’s Tibet, said that Lhasa Natural Gas station now supplies about 30 thousand cubic meters a day, and the use of gas is still not much. It is estimated that after Nov.15th, the use of natural gas by citizens in Lhasa will double at least. Currently, liquefied natural gas reserves in Lhasa Natural Gas Station is more than 630 tons. Moreover, everyday, natural gas is taken from Golmud, Qinghai province by vehicles to Lhasa, which fully guarantee sufficient power supply to meet the needs in cooking and heating.

According to Wangwei, all natural gas used in Lhasa are taken from Golmud. Because of the long distance and the heavy snow cutting off the mountain road during the winter, natural gas was taken to Lhasa in advance. Since the early Oct, equipment in Lhasa Natural Gas Station has been checked for security. Besides, over 20 workers in Lhasa Natural Gas Station were trained so as every worker can know the production, technological process, equipment construction and the operation and maintenance of those apparatus. 

Three years ago, all cities in China are accessible to the natural gas, except Lhasa, the capital of southwest China’ Tibet Autonomous Region. At present, Lhasa has realized a complete coverage of natural gas. At the beginning of this year, government of Lhasa promoted the use of natural gas in enterprises and household, and also issued some favorable policies for encouraging the use of natural gas. Adhering to those favorable polices, Lhasa Natural Gas Station explored the natural gas market and promoted the people’s livelihood project. Now, there are 20 thousand citizens in Lhasa enjoying the benefits of using natural gas. 

There are 29 companies in Lhasa economic development zone. Lhasa Natural Gas Station persuaded those enterprises to use natural gas instead of electricity and coal, which strived for the maximization of sales in Lhasa economic development zone. With great efforts, 10 companies has already used the natural gas. The daily sales of Lhasa Natural Gas Station hits over 30 thousand cubic meters, a year-on-year increase of 328%. At the beginning of this year, in order to ensure the air quality of Lhasa, the capital of southwest China’s Tibet Autonomous Region, Lhasa bus company bought more than 100 electric-gas hybrid buses. Cooperating with the bus company, marketers of Lhasa Natural Gas Station promote the economic and environmental advantages of natural gas, realizing the use of gas on bus. With the application of the heating coverage in Lhasa this year, in addition to the natural gas reserving work, Lhasa Natural Gas Station reserves 45 mu for the preparation of the second project building natural gas station.
