Since 2006, housing project has been massively implemented throughout the whole Tibet Autonomous Region. The housing project, implemented according to scientific planning and farmers’ and herdsmen’ wishes, includes building new houses and reconstructing old houses. This project guarantees that the farmers and herdsmen can not only live in large and bright new houses but also enjoy supporting facilities such as tap water, electricity, telecommunications, sanitation etc. By the end of 2013, the housing project for farmers and herdsmen in Tibet has been successfully completed, which enables 2.3 million people to live in new houses and increases the per capita living space of Tibetan farmers and herdsmen by 20% to 30%.
