Lhasa crowned as China’s vibrant leisure city of the year

On the award ceremony site of the 2015 China (International) Leisure Development Forum held on November 1, 2015, Lhasa City is crowned as one of the ten China’s vibrant leisure city of the year 2015.

It is reported that China (International) Leisure Development Forum is the earliest state-level forum focusing on leisure. It has been held successfully for seven sessions. The forum of this year is cosponsored by Chinese Sports Culture Promotion Association, Zhejiang University, Moderate Prosperity Journal  and the office of China (Hangzhou) West Lake Expo.

Lhasa, the capital city of southwest China’s Tibet Autonomous Region, contains many culturally significant Tibetan Buddhist sites known at home and abroad such as the Potala Palace, Jokhang Temple and Norbulingka Palaces. At an altitude of 3,490 metres (11,450 ft), Lhasa is one of the highest cities in the world.

It is learned that 9 other cities are also awarded as China’s vibrant leisure city of the year 2015, such as Guiyang City of Guizhou Province, Hangzhou City and Lishui City of Zhejiang Province, Nanning City of Guangxi Province, Zhenjiang City of Jiangsu Province, Yueyang City of Hunan Province, Jiujiang City of Jiangxi Province, Zhongwei City of Ningxia Province as well as Hulun Buir City of Inner Mongolia.
