Tibetan medicine industry acquires rapid developments

Since the establishment of Tibet Autonomous Region, the Tibet medicine and other various undertakings have got synchronously rapid development. The state and Tibet Autonomous Region successively invested a huge sum of fund to implement the construction of Tibetan medicine agencies’ infrastructure at all levels, especially the recent 10 years’ reconstruction of the traditional Tibetan hospital on a large scale. Among all these, the investment of traditional Tibetan hospitals in Tibet Autonomous Region only was 200 million yuan, and 21 new county-level traditional Tibetan hospitals were built. 

In 2014 and 2015, Tibet Autonomous Region arranged 57 million yuan for the infrastructural facilities construction of traditional Tibetan hospitals at 9 counties. At present, the entire district has 30 public Tibetan medicine institutions, 3 private traditional Tibetan hospitals and 1,364 Tibetan sickbeds. Counties, where no Tibetan hospitals are set, all have Tibetan medicine departments at the county’s health service center. 78% of the township health centers and about 20% of the village clinics can provide essential medical services.

On August 3 shows that Hou Kun, an aiding Tibet doctor from People’s Hospital of Pudong New District, Shanghai City, is applying Internet remote training system to train doctors at a classroom of Gyangze County’s People’s Hospital.

According to the information learnt from Gyangze County’s People’s Hospital, in August 2014, People’s Hospital of Pudong New District, Shanghai City started to provide them technical supports. Since the set-up of tele-medicine equipment, People’s Hospital of Pudong New District, Shanghai City has carried out several periods of remote education training for local medical staff in Shigatse. Moreover, Internet remote equipment will be applied to Tibet’s clinical medical treatment in October this year. At present, national essential drug system is implemented in most of the primary medical organizations in Tibet, of which the utilization rate reaches more than 70%. Medicine cost of the masses is further cut down. At Gyangze County’s People’s Hospital, patients can directly apply for reimbursement, which spares a variety of formalities. No deposit system is executed while seeing a doctor and patients just need to pay 15% of the expenses.
