After more than two years’ development, the number of “Lhasa pure land” enterprises have reached 89, with a total output value of 3.66 billion yuan. The number of direct employment personnel reaches 83 thousand, and the number of indirect employees has reached 125 thousand. The development of pure land health industry vigorously promotes the land circulation in Lhasa City and increases the income of the masses.

In September, 2013, based on the plateau organic agriculture and animal husbandry, focusing on advanced technology to improve and upgrade traditional industries, Lhasa put forth effort to develop plateau organic health food, plateau organic products, plateau health care medicine as well as leisure tourism industry.

Chushur County, one of the first national agricultural reform experiment counties and state-level modern agriculture demonstration zones, is also the going-first area of Lhasa pure land health industry. It is now a famous maca planting base in Tibet. Among the 15 thousand mu maca planting land in Lhasa, Chushur County has 12 thousand mu. Many farmers of Chushur County make a living by planting maca.

At present, the health products named after “Lhasa Pure Land” have formed a series, including highland barley, yak meat, Tibetan medicine, glacier water ect. It is reported that eight counties of Lhasa have set up pure healthy industry companies, introduced a series of preferential policies as well as given fiscal subsidies to dairy industry and plateau characteristic horticultural industry to forge a upgraded pure land health industry.
