Tibet: 9.2 bln yuan’s fund for poverty alleviation invested during 12th Five-Year Plan

During the “Twelfth Five-Year Plan” period, the input of poverty alleviation in Tibet Autonomous Region has reached a record high, which is a total of 9.19 billion yuan. It increases by 6.56 billion yuan more than the period of “11th five-year plan” , increased by 2.49 times.


Among them, the central government poverty alleviation fund is more than 6.94 billion yuan, and the region’s financial poverty alleviation fund is more than 1.7 billion yuan. Two level finances, prefecture (city) and county, also enhance its investment input intensity, and a total of more than 540 million yuan is invested which provides financial support of solving the problem of helping poor people out of poverty.


Tibet’s gross domestic product (GDP) hits 92.5 billion yuan(14.5 billion U.S.dollars) in 2014. The per capita net income of farmers and herdsmen in the region hits 7,471 yuan in 2014, up 14 percent year on year. The per capita disposable income of urban residents also increased 8 percent year on year to reach 22,026 yuan.


The financial department in Tibet arranges and integrates agricultural funds in accordance with the principle of “orderly channel, unchanged purpose, overall planning, division of individual responsibility”. They put the funds to the region’s key poverty-stricken area for poverty alleviation and development. 

poverty reduction in Tibet Autonomous Region has got remarkable achievements, a population of nearly 580 thousand impoverished people has been reduced in five years, from 2011 to 2015.
