Recently, the General Office of Tibet Autonomous Region’s Government has printed and distributed the “Action Plan and Work Program for Water Pollution Control in Tibet Autonomous Region”, and it will take ten measures to promote the work of water protection, water resource management and water pollution control. 

It is mentioned in the Program that the ratio up to standard of water quality of drinking water source in the region’s main cities and towns will all reach 100% by 2020. The town's life sewage centralized treatment rate at the built-up area in Lhasa will reach more than 90%, while that of other cities and areas will reach more than 85%. Besides, the water saving indexes and the total discharge of major pollutants shall meet the national requirements.
