Lhasa receives over 1.1 mln tourists in 2015

According to statistics released by Lhasa Municipal Tourism Bureau, the number of tourists in Lhasa reaches 1.17903 million in 2015, realizing a total tourism revenue of 15.493 billion RMB.

It is known that Lhasa brought out a series of Tibetan New Year tourism routes in the first half of 2015, such as Tibetan family visiting, Tibetan New Year's Eve dinner tasting, Potala Palace sightseeing, Jokhang Temple praying, buttered tea making learning, expelling the evil spirit ritual participating and so on. This activity has accelerated the heating up of Lhasa winter tourism market.

Besides, local tourism department has featured multiple special tourist routes. Tourism festival activities like Lhasa Shoton Festival, China Tibet Tourism and Culture Expo, Large scale drama Princess Wencheng etc. have attracted a large number of domestic and foreign tourists as well.

With 269 culture relic protection sites, Lhasa is one of the 24 national famous historic and cultural cities approved by the State Council. Potala Palace, Jokhang Temple and Norbulingka are all included in the world cultural heritage list.
