Tibet: over 100,000 forest rangers protect forest

The season of forest fire prevention in Tibet starts from Nov. 15, 2015 to May 31, 2016, therefore the forest ranger of Pome County patrols the forest conservation region and fills up the log everyday during this time. 

In order to enhance the conservation of forest resources and improve the management and protection level of public welfare forest, the first Tibet Autonomous Region’s Provisional Regulations for Public Welfare Forest has been implemented since January 1, 2015.

So far, the area of public welfare forest is over 150 million mu(about 100,000 square kilometers), accounting for more than 90 percent of the whole forest area in Tibet Autonomous Region. There is a total of about 102,786 forest rangers in the region. In 2015, over 0.7 billion yuan was used for  management and protection subsidies.
