Gyirong Port's trade of import and export gets a flying start

According to Lhasa Customs Agency, Gyirong Customs Agency of Tibet vigorously carries out various customs clearance measures in order to better serve the large land route trade channel of South Asia. The total import and export value of foreign trade at Gyirong Port achieves 321 million yuan RMB during the first two months of 2016, which is 2.77 times compared with that at the same period in 2015.

According to statistics released by Lhasa Customs Agency, the cargoes exported at Gyirong Port are mainly agricultural and sideline products, various clothing, small household appliances and so on in January and February of this year, which realizes a 2.71 times’ year-on-year increase. Besides, the cargoes imported at Gyirong Port are mainly brass statues, ornaments, textiles and so on in January and February of this year, realizing a 36.5 times’ year-on-year increase. The port trade between Nepal and China has been continuously increasing, laying a solid foundation for comprehensive, benign and balanced development of border trade.

Since this year, Gyirong Customs Agency, which is subordinate to Lhasa Customs Agency, has been actively implementing various measures on promoting and stabilizing growth of Tibet’s foreign trade. Currently, Gyirong Port has become one of the main channels for China-Nepal trade with a good prospect. (1 US dollar equals 6.5128 yuan RMB)
