According to the Potala Palace Administration Office, the ticket price of Potala Palace has raised from 100 yuan RMB (15.43 U. S. dollars) to 200 yuan RMB (30.86 U. S. dollars) per person since May 1.
The ticket price of Potala Palace alters due to the low and peak tourism seasons. Low tourism season starts from November 1 to April 30 of the next year, and the ticket price during this period is 100 yuan RMB (15.43 U. S. dollars) per person. From May 1 to October 31 each year, the ticket price of Potala Palace is 200 yuan RMB (30.86 U. S. dollars) per person. Full-time undergraduates and under, the domestic disabled, domestic active-duty military personnel, domestic teachers as well as the aged above 60 years old can enjoy half price preferential policy of the season with relevant documents and certificates. Besides, children shorter than 1.2 meters are eligible for free admission at Potala Palace. As the tickets to Potala Palace are hard to get during the peak tourism season, tourists usually need to wait for a few days in order to visit Potala Palace.
With a history of over 1,300 years, Potala Palace is the world's highest place integrating palace, castle and monastery. Moreover, Potala Palace was listed as one of major national historical and cultural sites in 1961 and was inscribed on the World Heritage List by UNESCO in 1994.
