According to the National Forum of Aiding Tibet in Agriculture held on July 10, 2016, during the 12th-Five Year Plan period, a grand total of about 14.9 billion yuan RMB has been invested in all kinds of agriculture in Tibet, which is 5.4 times of that during the 11th-Five Year Plan period.

As a basic industry and characteristic industry, agriculture and animal husbandry has set foot in the golden period of development. In 2015, the total output value of agriculture and livestock in Tibet is nearly 15 billion yuan RMB, up 32.6 percent compared with that in 2010. per capita disposable income of farmers and herdsmen is 8,244 yuan RMB, which is doubled compared with that in 2010.

In recent years, some provinces have increased the aiding efforts in farming and animal husbandry by adjusting measures to local conditions. Jiangsu Province arranges 20 million yuan RMB each year to carry out projects such as Tibetan Chicken Protection as well as Highland Barley Breeding etc.
