On July 13, 2016, 62 officers and soldiers as well as 27 machinery vehicles from the second traffic detachment of armed police formed into a Sino-Nepalese Highway Reopen Shock Brigade and rushed to Nyalam County to reopen China Nepal Friendship Highway. Sino-Nepalese Highway is an important land access between China and Nepal. Its total longth is 943 kilometers, of which there is about 829 kilometers within Chinese territory.

Affected by the "4.25" earthquake and "5.12" earthquake happened in 2015 as well as the recent sustained rainfall, several parts of Sino-Nepalese Highway with Nyalam County, southwest China’s Tibet Autonomous Region, are destroyed by water disasters. A accumulatived total of about two kilometers' road embankment is collapsed. It is predicted that over 20 days are needed to repen this stretch of road due to that the average rainfall duration is over seven hours each day at present and that switchback roads make it harder to operate.
