To improvethe living environment quality and protect natural ecological environment, Lhasa City plans to establish 3 household waste harmless disposal facilities with an investment of 12.57 million yuan. During the 13th Five Year Plan Period, 29 projects of this kind of facilities will be established. Then all towns in Lhasa can realize the harmless disposal of household waste.

At present, many towns in Lhasa still adopt the method of landfill treatment.“Garbage collection points are set up in every town. Township sanitation departments landfill the garbage nearby after centralized recovery,” says a worker of Lhasa Development and Reform Commission. Due to numerous towns, there are many small, scattered and disordered landfills. Therefore, it is necessary to build household waste harmless disposal facilities.

This year, the first batch of household waste harmless disposal facilities are expected to be built in 3 towns in Lhasa with an investment of 12.57 million yuan. Henceforth, household waste in the 3 towns will be placed at collection points as required and then be recycled through compressional mode. At last, the waste is land-filled in fixed places.
