On October 31, 2016 Tibet Whistling Archery Compttition of the Tibet's Third Session Outdoor Sports Meeting was held at Nyingchi Stadium. A total of 90 archers were divided into nine groups to take part in the competition. Tibet's whistling archery goes back a long way, and is still practiced today in tournaments and celebrations. Artwork of the land-locked empire depicts bows and arrows from bordering cultures. The arrows of the whistling archery is made of conical wood with four small holes. After the arrow leaves the string, the air shall pass through the small holes giving out the sharp and melodious sound.
