Tibet’s power transmission makes new high in 2016

By 智幸花 Source:China Tibet News 2016-11-08

By the end of Oct. 31, the annual power transmission of Tibet Grid reaches 824 million kilowatt-hour, making new high, increasing over 130% than last year.

Affected by geography and natural climate, Tibet Grid is rich in hydroelectricity. It is high-water period in summer, so Tibet's electric power is oversupplied. To do a better work of power transmission, on the basis of ensuring safe operation of power grid and Tibet's electricity demand, by earnestly implementing national energy policy, giving full play to cross-regional advantages, intensifying the transmission degree of clean energy and positively bringing into play the role ofmarket mechanisms, Tibet's surplus electricity is traded concentratedly through a transaction platform in Beijing Electric Power Trading Center. This measure not only optimizes the allocation of Tibet's clean energy in a large scale, but also makes a contribution to energy conservation and emission reduction.

In addition,  to improve the power transmission capability, annual examination and relative check work is carried out for electric transmission lines. Statistics made on Oct. 31 shows that the power transmission volume of Qinghai-Tibet electric transmission line is 697 million kilowatt-hour, two times than last year, while the Sichuan-Tibetelectric transmission line is 127 million kilowatt-hour, five times than last year.

As winter power peak is approaching, the Qinghai-Tibet electric transmission line has stopped transmission on Nov. 1 and power will be transmitted back to Tibet on Nov.5.
