During the period of 12th Five-Year Plan, scientific literacy of people in China’s Tibet achieved a leapfrog development. In the 13th Five-Year Plan, creativity and cooperation will promote a new breakthrough in the enhancement of people’s scientific literacy.
According to the ninth survey of Chinese people’s scientific literacy, the population of people having scientific literacy in Tibet stands at 1.93 percent, an increase of 1.83 percent compared with 0.1 percent of 2010.
The 12th Five-Year Plan witnessed a great breakthrough. Rural middle school’s science and technology museum, science caravan and rural science activity station have realized full coverage in Tibet. One natural science museum, eight mobile science museums, 79 middle school’s science and technology museums and 74 science caravans have been built since the 12th Five-Year Plan. In addition, there are seven science electronic galleries, 13 science demonstration communities, 651 rural science activity stations. With the implementation of “Internet+Science”, Tibet’s overall science service capability achieves great improvement.
In addition, there are a series of science activities including more than 1,200 trainings and over 700 science panels. Based on city-level science and technology museum, the system of modern science and technology system focusing on the building of nature science and technology museum consists of mobile science and technology museum, science caravan and digital science and technology museum. By 2020, scientific literacy of people in China’s Tibet will rise to five percent.
