Lalu wetland in winter faded green, and has already become a paradise for migratory birds. According to the Lalu Wetland National Nature Reserve Administration Bureau, since mid October this year, Lalu wetland has ushered in the tens of thousands of migratory birds. Among them, red ducks, geese and coots are "the main force". At the beginning of next month, Lalu wetland will also usher in the peak season of migratory birds. In order to provide migratory birds a safe and comfortable habitat, the core area of Lalu wetland will implement a 24 hour patrol, said Nyima Dorje, deputy director of the Lalu Wetland National Nature Reserve Administration Bureau.
With an excellent ecological environment, Lalu Wetland shall attract more kinds of migratory birds.
Judging from the past experience, Lalu wetland usually ushers in migratory birds from mid October every year to late April neat year. Since mid October this year, Lalu wetland has ushered in tens of thousands of migratory birds. Among them, the number of red ducks, geese and coots is the most. This year, the number of wintering birds is almost the same compared with previous year. With the surrounding ecological environment of the Lalu wetland comtinuously improving, it will usher in many more migratory birds with even more species.
To this end, Nyima Dorje also cited a vivid example. At the beginning of November this year, they found traces of black necked cranes in Lalu wetland. "The black necked crane is like a symbol, and only when the ecological environment in this area is good to a certain extent, can it attracts black necked crane perch here." To take care of the birds in the wetland, rangers look forward to see the black necked cranes the most, because it indicates the ecological environment of Lalu wetland is excellent. In November this year, rangers in Lalu wetland found trails of 3 cranes.
24 hours patrol shall be implemented at the core area to protect the safety of migratory birds.
Usually, migratory birds will choose to live in the center of the wetland area, because it is not only rich in water resources but also has quiet environment, which is not easy to be disturbed. Every winter, some citizens and photography enthusiasts will gather at Lalu wetland to watch birds. As everyone knows, this behavior does not benefit the migratory birds. So, it is decided by the Management Bureau of Lalu Wetland National Nature Reserve that 24 hours patrol shall be implemented at the core area of about 12.64 square kilometers area so as to protect the safety of Lalu wetland habitat for migratory birds.
In order to provide a comfortable environment for the survival of migratory birds, patrol needs to ensure that the water quality is clean from the source, so they patrol on the region of three drains one river every day,to ensure that clean water flows into the Lalu wetland and does not affect the migratory birds. In addition, Lalu wetland also sets up a special bird feed place to feed the birds. "The area of Lalu wetland is very big, so we only set up two bird feed places, mainly considering to keep the independent predation ability of migratory birds", said Nyima Dorje.
Don't disturb them when viewing
"The best time of bird watching in the day is early morning and evening (because most birds are more active within 2 hours after sunrise and before sunset). In Lhasa, from January to March is the best season for bird watch in general." At the beginning of next month, Lalu wetland will usher in the peak of the migratory birds.
At the same time, Lalu wetland patrol put forward some suggestions for civilized bird watching. Keep a certain distance while watching the migratory birds. Please remember not to throw food or other debris beside migratory bird. don't wear colorful clothes and hats, such as red, yellow, orange, pink and other colors, because most birds are very sensitive to bright colors; the birds are sensitive, so please stay far away from them during observation. At last, the bird watching time should be in accordance with the rules of bird habitat.
