In 2016, a total of 23.1594 million tourists from home and abroad are received in Tibet Autonomous Region, up 14.8 percent year-on-year. Among them, 22.8375 million tourists are domestic tourists, up 14.9 percent compared with that in 2015. A total of 321,900 tourists are foreign tourists, up 10 percent compared with that in 2015. The tourism revenue in Tibet totaled RMB 33.075 billion yuan, up 17.3 percent year-on-year.

Up to now, there are a total of 246 star grade hotels, 448 star grade family inns, 212 catering service firms, 19 tourism passenger transport enterprises, 117 A-grade scenic spots and 244 travel agencies. Tourism economy hits another record high, and the ability of accommodation has been enhanced remarkably in Tibet.

In 2017, Tibet will pull off to realize receiving over 25 million tourists from both home and abroad and over RMB 37 billon yuan’s tourism revenue in Tibet, said Karma Tseten, deputy secretary of Tibet Autonomous Region’s Tourism Development Committee.
