From 2015 to now, under the leadership of party committee and government of Tibet Autonomous Region as well as with joint efforts of parties concerned, the demonstration site construction work of characteristic towns in Tibet has achieved initial success.

Gyitang Town in Chagyab County, Chamdo City is included in the characteristic town demonstration site construction list. Guided by the scientific developing concept, Tibet tries to build Gyitang Town  as a characteristic town with good ecological environment, adequate infrastructure, good living environment and harmonious economic society.
