Tibet’s total import and export value increases 86.5% from Jan. to May

According to the Lhasa Customs, from January to May this year, the total import and export value of goods trade of Tibet Autonomous Region reaches 2.96 billion yuan, a year-on-year increase of 86.5%. Among which, the export value is 1.09 billion yuan, a year-on-year growth of 2.1%, and the import value is 1.87 billion yuan, a year-on-year growth of 2.6 times.

In the first five months of this year, the import and export value of Tibet's general trade is 2.06 billion yuan, increasing 2.8 times and accounting for 69.6% of Tibet's total import and export value.

Viewed from trade balance, Tibet's imports are growing much faster than exports. Affected by market requirements, especially the continuous development of aviation industry, Tibet's aircraft import business increases steadily and the trade deficit reaches 780 million yuan.
