Since the past 40 years of reform and opening up, Ngari Prefecture of southwest China's Tibet Autonomous Region has thoroughly implemented safeguard-stabilitystrategy and achieved positive results in recent years.

Economy and society has been developed, villagers’ income has been increased, urban and rural appearance has been greatly changed in Ngari. According to statistics, in 2017, the Gross Domestic Product (GDP) has realized 49.3 billion yuan (about 709 million US dollars), the highway mileage has reached 14.3 million kilometers, and the income of urban and rural residents has respectively reached 32,930 yuan (about 4736 US dollars) and 10,008 yuan (about 1439 US dollars). A flourishing and developing new prefecture has stood in western Tibet.
