Since the reform and opening up, Tibet has continuously improved the production conditions of agriculture and animal husbandry, and great progress has been made. In 2017, grain output exceeded one million tons for the first time, reaching 1.0513 million tons, an increase of 104.8% over the 513,400 tons in 1978. The output of pork, beef and mutton reached 303,300 tons, an increase of 54,000 tons over 1978. The output of milk was 427,700 tons, an increase of 3.5 times over 1978. Vegetable output was 727,300 tons, 26.9 times higher than that in 1981.
