Since the "13th Five-Year Plan", Xigaze has started and carried out 697 rural highway construction projects with a total investment of 23.059 billion yuan. 100% of towns and 86% of incorporated villages in the city have been connected with asphalt (cement) roads (including projects under construction).

At the same time, the Communications Bureau of Xigaze City has already started the preliminary survey and design work of rural highway reserve projects. At present, the work has been basically completed.

Next, Xigaze will increase communications with the transportation authorities at higher levels, strive to grasp the policy direction, earnestly implement projects and obtain investment, so as to further improve the transportation conditions in agricultural and pastoral areas, strengthen the reform of rural passenger transport, and realize regional management of rural passenger transport. In addition, it will improve the network layout work of rural passenger lines, and accelerate the effective connection of urban public transport, rural passenger transport, and long distance transport lines.
