According to the statistics, up to now, Lhasa in southwest China's Tibet Autonomous Region has invested 658 million yuan RMB in building 5 urban sewage treatment plants with a daily capacity of 193,000 tons. Currently, the city's total length of main and branch drainage pipe networks are 700 km, including over 500 km of drainage (sewage) pipe network along urban roads, and the urban drainage system has been basically completed.

Lhasa has built 5 sewage treatment plants including two branches of Lhasa municipal sewage treatment plants, Liuwu, Doilungdeqen Industrial Park as well as Dagze sewage treatment plants. The actual daily sewage treatment capacity of the first phase of Lhasa sewage treatment plant exceeds 60,000 tons, the sewage discharge standard has reached the first-class B standard of municipal-level sewage treatment, and an upgrading work is underway. The actual daily sewage treatment capacity of the plant's second phase is between 132,500 and 135,000 tons; that of Doilungdeqen Industrial Park sewage treatment plant and Dagze sewage treatment plants around 5,000 tons. The sewage discharge standards of the 3 treatment plants have been reached the first-class A standard of municipal-level sewage treatment. The daily sewage treatment capacity of Liuwu sewage treatment plant is around 2,600 tons.

In addition, 6 sewage treatment plants in Lhasa's counties are under construction, including Baidian, Mozhugongka and Lhundrup sewage treatment plant, which are expected to be completed and put into operation at the end of 2019, by when Lhasa's daily sewage treatment capacity will be increased by 23,000 tons, which will comprehensively overcome those counties' sewage treatment difficulties and end the situation of no standard sewage treatment plants in counties.

In 2019, Lhasa City will also start the construction of sewage treatment plants at High-Tech District, with the sewage treatment capacity of 70,000 tons each day, so as to ensure the environmental protection during developing the new urban district.
