Tibet's airports have hit a record high in the passenger and cargo throughput on the first half of this year, according to the Civil Aviation Administration of China (CAAC) Tibet Office.
Tibet's airports have had 25,116 take offs and landings from Jan. to Jul. in 2019, realizing a year-on-year increase of 10.3%. They have handled a total of 2.7 million passengers and 1666.8 tons, up 7.2% and 9.7% respectively compared to the same period last year.
In order to meet the high demand for flights, Tibet Office of CAAC has opened new air routes to Hefei, Jinan and Huhhot, including Lhasa-Lanzhou, Lhasa-Golmud-Zheng Zhou, Lhasa-Hefei, Qamdo-Chengdu-Shenzhen, Xigaze-Xi'an, Jinan-Lhasa, Lhasa-Xi'an-Huhhot and Qamdo-Chengdu-Shenzhen.
To date, 92 air routes have been operated in Tibet, connecting Tibet with 48 cities.
