Located in Dinggye County of Xigaze City, southwest China's Tibet Autonomous Region, Drenthang Town is located on the southern slope of Himalaya and covered by pristine jungle. Thanks to its unique climate, rare forest products including tricholoma matsutake, fiddlehead, and wild blueberry can easily be bought here.

In 2015, with the support of local government, a local villager Lhapa Dargye had established "Characteristic Agricultural Products Processing Cooperative" with other 7 local residents, the cooperative had adopted new business model and conducted unified pack and sale.

With good advertising effect of the cooperative, its products become popular in the market. Lhapa Dargye tries to open an online store and expands marketing channel. Now, forest products of Drenthang Town are sold to Shanghai.

"In the past, we used to pick forest products in mountains, but just kept them for self use. Nowadays, aged people like me can earn money at home through selling these products!" Dawa says proudly.

Relying on the local resources, economic benefit of the cooperative has been increasing gradually, thus stimulating villagers' initiatives of making money and promoting local poverty alleviation. In 2019, the cooperative provided working posts for 19 impoverished households, with an average dividend of more than 4,000 yuan RMB for each. It also donated a total of 45,000 yuan RMB to local kindergartens, primary schools, as well as people over the age of 60.
