According to Lhasa Customs statistics, the total value of foreign trade from January to February of this year reached 488 million yuan RMB, realizing a year-on-year increase of 15.3% in southwest China's Tibet Autonomous Region. Of this, gross export value was 329 million yuan RMB, a year-on-year decrease of 12.2%; gross import value was 159 million yuan RMB, a year-on-year increase of 229.7%. Tibet is one of the 6 provinces and autonomous regions where foreign trade has increased, with the growth rate ranking first in China.
There are two main factors driving the growth of Tibet's foreign trade. First, since the second half of 2019, Lhasa Customs has actively taken relevant measures in foreign trade, and guided local enterprises to expand imports. Second, leading enterprises have played an important role in import demand for mechanical and electrical products.
