"Vegetable basket" safeguards people's livelihood

"Winter and spring are the off-seasons for local vegetable production, and the number of vegetables on the market would decrease in the two seasons in the past. Now, under the good policy guidance of the Party and the state, our life is getting better and better." Tsomo says happily.

Under the guidance of the government's policies benefiting people, relevant departments of Lhasa City have improved the market allocation and regulation mechanism. Therefore, vegetable prices are only small fluctuation because of low local vegetable production in the off-season, and vegetable supply for citizens is still sufficient in winter and spring.

According to the person in charge of Pure Land Agricultural Development Co., Ltd. of Chengguan District, Lhasa City, in order to ensure market supply, 73 vegetable outlets are equipped with adequate supplies. The company puts vegetables in those outlets twice a day. Most outlets also sell butter, Zanba (roasted highland barley flour), steak, rice, flour and other goods.

At present, the company and its subsidiaries have a total of 596 staff members, including 339 farmers and herdsmen as well as 166 college graduates. The company hired 51 people from Chengguan District's registered poor or relocated households to work in the company's refrigerated storage, vegetable processing plant, high-standard cow breeding center, pure land dairy and other departments. Since 2016, the company has paid 10.26984 million yuan RMB of poverty elimination dividends to the registered poor households in the district.
