Linzhou County of Lhasa City is located in the upper reaches of Lhasa River and the Pengbo River basin, which is a protected area with the most concentrated black-necked cranes in the middle reaches of Yarlung Zangbo River valley.
Black-necked crane is a first class national protected animal species. At present, there are about 2,000 black-necked cranes spending winter in Linzhou County every year, and the large wetland area in Linzhou County has become a "winter paradise" for black-necked cranes.
