Recently, Dawa Tsering's family in Danggu Village, Nyamo Town, Sangzhutse District, Xigaze City, southwest China's Xizang Autonomous Region is bustling with excitement. Relatives and neighbors offered "Hadas" to Dechen Yangzom to congratulate her on her admission to Tsinghua University.

Dechen Yangzom was born in a peasant family. She was the eldest of four children in this family of ten. After completing primary and junior high school in Sangzhutse District, she was admitted to Lhasa Middle School with excellent results.

"When I got the acceptance letter from Tsinghua University, I was very excited. All my previous efforts had been paid off," said Dechen Yangzom cheerfully.

"My daughter has always done well in school. Although we can't help her with her studies, she has her own learning plan and works very hard. This good result is achieved by her own efforts and the help of the school." Her father, Dawa Tsering, pointed to the wall covered with certificates of honor and said, "All my four children have done well in their studies. I hope the younger brothers and sisters will follow their elder sister's example and study hard."

Dechen Yangzom has not only performed well academically, but also received the honorary title of National Unity and Progress Model Individual of Sangzhutse District in 2018.

"I will try my best to become self-disciplined, hardworking and confident in the new campus, learn professional knowledge well, continue to read Tibetan books, get in touch with different things, so as to get to a better future." Dechen Yangzom said, "Thanks to the great policies of the country and the government for supporting my studies, I will learn hard and develop skills well, so that I can contribute to the construction of my hometown and motherland in the future."
