Baima Yudron is a first-level judge of the People's Court of Medog County, Nyingchi City, southwest China's Xizang Autonomous Region, and a member of the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference. Medog County, once known as an "isolated" county, is her hometown. In 2013, Medog ended its history of being the only county in China with no road access.

Baima Yudron left Medog to study when she was young. After graduating from university, she chose to go back and work in Medog.

Baima Yudron said, "in the past, Medog's conditions were backward and many people did not want to come back. I had always cared deeply about my hometown, and my parents suggested that I come back to work in Medog, hoping that I could contribute to the construction." Baima Yudron lived up to her parents' expectations. She was conscientious and assiduous in her work and grew step by step, from a clerk to a first-level judge of the People's Court of Medog County.

"I experienced the process of Medog people from knowing nothing about the law to now using the law to protect their rights.”Baima Yudron said. In the past, when disputes occurred in the village, the villagers were more inclined to ask village elders to coordinate. Baima Yudron and her colleagues did a lot of work to popularize the law. "We popularized legal knowledge to the people, explained the provisions of the law, and told them that if their rights and interests were infringed, they coulduse legal weapons to defend." She said.

Nowadays, Baima Yudron feels that Medog is undergoing obvious changes, more and more people take the initiative to consult. For example, when encountering divorce disputes, child support disputes and other cases, people take the initiative to the court to handle.

For Baima Yudron, the changes in her hometown are not onlyin legal aspects. She used to ride a motorcycle to the countryside to popularize law and handle cases, there were many landslides on the road. It took more than an hour to get to Dexing Town, the nearest town to the county seat. Now, the road condition is much better, it only takes more than ten minutes to get there.

"As Medog is an ethnic minority area and its people are more willing to communicate with cadres who speak Monba or Lhoba language, it is better to popularizethe law in local dialect." Baima Yudron said. During this year's two sessions, Baima Yudron prepared to put up proposals on training ethnic lawworkers. "Ethnic areas are in great need of law workers who are familiar with their languages and folk customs." Baima Yuzhen said.“I hope I can make more contribution to the popularization of the law in the future.”
