Wang Yong, former vice-chairman of the government of the Xizang autonomous region, has been expelled from the Communist Party of China and removed from public office for severely violating the Party disciplines and allegedly violating laws, the country's top anti-corruption watchdogs said.

The removal was disclosed by the CPC Central Commission for Discipline Inspection and the National Commission of Supervision through the internet on Wednesday.

The suspected violations of national laws in Wang's case have been transferred to prosecutors for further investigation, the commissions added.

Wang was placed under disciplinary and supervisory investigation earlier this year. He was found to have illegally accepted banquet invitations and gifts, and he illegally owned shares of unlisted companies, according to a statement of the commissions.

He is also accused of illegally interfering in market economic activities and allegedly accepted huge sums after using his vice-chairmanship to help people secure project contracts and purchase materials, the statement added.

"Wang's behavior has seriously violated the Party's political, organizational, integrity and life disciplines, bringing negative effects, so we harshly punished him by removing him from the Party and the public office," the commission said.
