As autumn turns into winter, the Bomi Gastrodia in southwest China’s Xizang Autonomous Region enters the best harvesting season.

At Pema Chosphel’s planting base in a forest, Gastrodia grows in good condition.

Relying on forest resources and environmental advantages, Bomi County develops Gastrodia as a pillar industry. Through making efforts in aspects of industrial scale, brand building, quality improvement, and product deep processing, the industrial chain is extended and expanded, converting local resources into the "forest treasure land".

Pema Chosphel's family has been benefited from Gastrodia cultivation since 2022. The planting scale is gradually expanded, and their income is also increased to more than 100,000 yuan now.

Up to now, the planting area of Gastrodia in Bomi County has exceeded 2000 mu (133 hectares), and the output ranks first in Xizang. This year, the output is expected to reach 240,000 jin (120,000 kg), with a value of more than 20 million yuan. Gastrodia has not only become the "golden egg" for the local people to get rich, but also the "Bomi gift" taken away by tourists, greatly promoting rural revitalization.
