Nepal is an important partner for China to jointly build "the Belt and Road Initiative" in South Asia. Since 2019, the two countries' relations have been upgraded to a strategic cooperative partnership and entered a new historical stage. From 2019 to 2023, the total value of China's import and export trade with Nepal exceeded 55 billion yuan, with an average annual growth rate of 11.7%. In the first 10 months of this year, the total value of China's import and export trade with Nepal reached 11.218 billion yuan.

This year, the four land ports in China's Xizang operated smoothly and orderly, promoting bilateral economic and trade cooperation and personnel exchanges. In the first 10 months of this year, the Lhasa Customs supervised 180,000 tons of freight at Xizang's land ports, up 51% year-on-year.

Xizang is the largest trading province between China and Nepal. In the first ten months of this year, Xizang's import and export trade value with Nepal amounted to 3.14 billion yuan, increasing by 46.4% year-on-year, and accounting for 28% of the total trade value between China and Nepal in the same period. The high-quality joint construction of the Belt and Road Initiative has gradually brought out Xizang's regional advantages in opening up to South Asia.

This year, China has continued to expand the import of high-quality agricultural products such as Nepalese silage, plant-based medicinal herbs, and tea. In the first 10 months, the trade value of traditional Chinese medicinal materials imported from Nepal through the China-Nepal land ports was 3.3842 million yuan, with a trade volume of 201.02 tons, a year-on-year increase of 246.99% and 71.89% respectively. The trade value of imported Nepalese silage was 427,200 yuan, with a trade volume of 601.54 tons, a year-on-year increase of 382.17% and 625.71% respectively.

In the first 10 months of this year, Xizang exported 225 million yuan of new three products to Nepal, a significant year-on-year increase, accounting for 16.8% of the new three products exported to Nepal in the same period.
