Recently, the Press Office of the People's Government of Xizang Autonomous Region of China held a special press conference on water conservancy projects construction, announcing that since the beginning of this year, 9.368 billion yuan of investment in water conservancy has been implemented in Xizang. Water conservancy departments at all levels have made solid progress in water conservancy projects construction, and achieved good results in investment implementation, project construction, flood and drought disaster prevention, ecology protection of rivers and lakes, water supply for urban and rural areas, and water conservancy projects' operation and management, realizing good economic, social and ecological benefits.

Since this year, Xizang has set up 364 water conservancy projects. Among them, the construction of major ones has been carried out in an orderly manner according to the annual target tasks, with a total of 1.583 billion yuan allocated for rural water supply project construction throughout the year. 297 water supply projects have been implemented, benefiting 374,500 rural residents. A total of 88 million yuan was allocated for the maintenance and upkeep of rural water supply throughout the year, and 1,246 projects were repaired and maintained, serving a population of 204,700.

At the same time, Xizang completed 68 damaged projects' restoration before flood season, carried out risk elimination and reinforcement for 9 risk and defective reservoirs, implemented 14 key mountain torrent gullies control, constructed 8 non-engineering measures for torrential flood disasters, 41 small and medium-sized river control projects, and carried out 7 soil erosion control projects, which promoted the greening of 215.36 square kilometers of land.

In sharing meteorological and hydrological information, Xizang has achieved issued 53,000 pieces of various forecast and early warning information in time, effectively safeguarding people's property and safety.
