In recent years, lots of Tibetan graduates have left their hometown to work and live in Huangshi City, Hubei Province, becoming "new Huangshi citizens".
In November 2020, 35 graduates from Shannan City, southwest China's Xizang Autonomous Region, came to Huangshi to start their career, which is the first batch of Tibetan graduates to take up employment outside the region.
Huangshi has implemented 17 preferential policies for the graduates including housing security. In 2024, over 100 high-quality positions were provided, covering state-owned enterprises, and well-known corporations such as Huaxin Cement, Jinpai Company, Great Wall Motor, etc.
In order to solve the problem that the college graduates from Xizang might not adapt to working in a completely fresh city immediately, various vocational trainings have been carried out to improve their working skills, so that they can fit into local work and life as soon as possible.
Up to now, a total of 241 graduates from Xizang have been employed in Hubei Province.
"This initiative have written a new chapter of ethnic unity between Xizang and Hubei," said Pema Yangjen, deputy director of the Human Resources and Social Security Bureau of Qusum County, Shannan, Xizang.
