At the Centralized Support Service Center for the Extremely Impoverished in Bomê County, Nyingchi City of China's Xizang, the elderly are either playing dice, spinning wool, or leisurely basking in the sunshine, and caregivers are providing rehabilitation care for the elderly who have difficulty moving.

Sonam Pema, an administrator of the center, said,"In addition to providing three meals a day, cleaning rooms, and attending to the personal hygiene of the elderly, we also need to constantly concern about their mental health status and promptly address any abnormalities. We take care of them as if they were our own parents, letting them to enjoy their old ages here."

In recent years, Bomê County has invested over 30 million yuan to carry out the construction and renovation projects for the Centralized Support Service Center for the Extremely Impoverished and the Day Care Center for the Elderly of the county, aiming to improve related supporting facilities. Meanwhile, 3.48 million yuan has been invested to complete the construction of four Rural Happiness Homes, providing basic life support, rehabilitation care, cultural entertainment, disease treatment, and other services for needy elderly people over 60 years old in the county.

To continuously improve the living environment of the elderly and enrich their spiritual and cultural life, the center has been innovating its service methods and approaches by organizing various kinds of recreational and cultural activities, such as inviting artistic troupes to perform, interacting with volunteers, holding collective birthday celebrations, etc. The center provides humanistic care to the elderly, ensuring they can enjoy their old ages filled with both material and spiritual prosperity.

Palsang, an elderly live in the center, said, "Here, the caregivers help us wash our clothes and take care of our daily lives, and volunteers come to give us haircuts and chat with us on weekends. We feel the warmth of home here."
