In 2024, southwest China's Xizang Autonomous Region implemented 431 highway construction projects throughout the year, achieving a total highway mileage of 124,900 kilometers. Projects such as the Lhasa-Xigaze Highway, part of the G4218 Ya'an–Yecheng National Expressway, and the Lhasa-Tsethang Highway (S5) were completed and opened to traffic. Construction of multiple key highway projects was accelerated, and the quality improvement and renovation of major passageways to and from Xizang were on the "fast track".
