On the first day of the Tibetan New Year, which was the Year of the Wood Snake according to the Tibetan calendar, elder Lhazin from Rinbung County of China's Xizang, celebrated his 80th birthday. In many places of Xizang, when an elder reaches the age of 80, they don a white Pulu vest with sun and moon patterns embroidered on the back, which not only celebrates longevity but also embodies the respect for life and reverence for nature.
