Recently, two new fungal species, namely Medog Thorn Tremella and Jiebai Thorn Tremella, were respectively discovered in Medog County and Dingjie County in Xizang by researchers from the Kunming Institute of Botany, Chinese Academy of Sciences. The Qinghai-Tibet Plateau, as a global biodiversity hotspot, provides unique conditions for the evolution of fungi due to its high-altitude and diverse forest ecosystems.
