"Dear Friends, have you ever experienced a cycling race across the Himalayas? Have you participated in the Lhasa Half Marathon? How about joining a winter snooker tournament on the plateau? If you're interested, I invite you to Lhasa to celebrate the Shoton Festival and enjoy a cup of rich, aromatic plateau yogurt."

On the morning of the 6th, in the Xizang Chamber of the Great Hall of the People, under the spotlight, Wang Qiang, the mayor of Lhasa City in the Xizang Autonomous Region, warmly extended this invitation to journalists from both Chinese and international media.

On that day, the Xizang delegation held an open group meeting, where more than 90 journalists from nearly 60 domestic and international media outlets arrived early to secure favorable spots. Over the course of more than two hours, through a series of questions and answers, thedelegation showcased to the world a more open and confident Xizang.

This year marks the 60th anniversary of the establishment of the Xizang Autonomous Region.

Since its founding in 1965, people of all ethnic groups in Xizang have continuously consolidated the great achievements of the Peaceful Liberation and democratic reform of Xizang, joining the rest of the nation on the broad path of socialism.Especially after the 18th National Congress of the Communist Party of China, the autonomous region has fully implemented the important directives of General Secretary Xi Jinping on Xizang's work and the Party's strategies for governing Xizang in the new era. As a result, Xizang has entered a new era characterized by the best development, the most significant changes, and the greatest benefits for the people.

A set of long-term data from the Xizang Autonomous Region fully illustrates that today's Xizang is brimming with vitality and dynamism everywhere:

From 1965 to 2024, the regional GDP of Xizang increased from (RMB) 327 million yuan to 276.494 billion yuan; general public budget revenue rose from 22 million yuan to 27.72 billion yuan; and the balance of loans from financial institutions grew from 91 million yuan to 601.216 billion yuan...

Facing questions from domestic and international journalists, representatives responded candidly, using stories to showcase the latest changes in their hometowns.

A year ago, during an open group meeting, Qide, a representative and the Party branch secretary of Porongtang Village in Nagqu City, shared a story about how a multi-functional high-pressure pot designed for the plateau solved cooking challenges for local herders.

This year, she brought three more pieces of good news:

First, last year, the standard for the "Three Guarantees" (nutrition improvement) program in education across the region was raised by 90 yuan per day, reaching 5,620 yuan per student annually, which has benefited 746,000 students, including Qide's own children.

Second, the output value of the animal husbandry industry in Baqen County has exceeded 200 million yuan, driving an 8% increase in rural per capita disposable income.

Third, the new site of the Baqen County People's Hospital has been put into use, and the new campus of the Second Middle School has been completed, significantly improving access to healthcare and education.

"Seeing these things fills me with immense joy, and I just want to share these happy events with everyone," Qide expressed. These small yet heartwarming moments of happiness are happening every day across the land of Xizang.

The changes in the lives of the people are closely tied to the economic leap of Xizang. Last year, its regional GDP  grew by 6.3%, with nine major industries, including clean energy, continuously improving in quality and efficiency.

"The development of the clean energy industry has helped us alleviate the challenges of electricity and heating in high-altitude areas," said Luo Qingwu, a representative and the mayor of Qamdo City. He explained that by installing solar panels on mountain slopes, Dengqen County in Qamdo City has transitioned from coal-fired boiler heating to clean energy heating, benefiting over 20,000 people and ensuring a warm winter for them.

These small changes reflect the bright future of high-quality development in Xizang.

"Lhasa is building itself into an international tourist destination with the unique charm of the snowy plateau," "Xigaze's role as a key gateway to South Asia is becoming more prominent," and "In Ngari, the cultural and tourism industry is helping more people thrive and prosper."

During the open group meetings, the representatives spoke with great confidence about Xizang's future development.

In this March, Nyingchi welcomes another season of blooming peach blossoms.

"The peach blossoms of Nyingchi are a romantic gift from nature to the plateau's spring," said Bata, a representative and the mayor of Nyingchi City. As the autonomous region marks its 60th anniversary, Nyingchi will host its annual Peach Blossom Festival,  inviting more domestic and international tourists to experience the vibrant and harmonious new chapter of Xizang through Nyingchi, a pioneering zone of reform and opening-up in the region.
