On March 28, a white paper titled "Human Rights in Xizang in the New Era" was released by the State Council Information Office at a press conference held in Lhasa, capital city of Xizang Autonomous Region.
Zha Luo, deputy director of the China Tibetology Research Center, said that over the past 70 years since the peaceful liberation of Xizang, especially the past 60 years since the founding of the Xizang Autonomous Region, Xizang has made historic progress in human rights and explored a development path with its own characteristics, providing a successful example for the modernization of high-altitude and underdeveloped regions globally.
Zha Luo pointed out that Xizang's development experience is mainly reflected in two aspects: Firstly, after decades of theoretical and practical exploration, it has found a path suitable for Xizang's development.
Secondly, the development of Xizang has been guaranteed through the mechanism of paired assistance, which has been implemented since 1994. At the same time, the resources from eastern developed regions, including human, material and financial resources, are mobilized to support Xizang's development. Xizang's development achievements over the past few decades can be said to be a worldwide exemplary case of modernization in high-altitude and underdeveloped regions.
