In old Xizang, there were hardly any formal modern schools. The enrollment rate for children was less than 2%, and the illiteracy rate was as high as 95%. Today's Xizang has seen a leap in education accessibility, with modern schools flourishing across the region. According to data from the 7th National Population Census of China, there are over 11,000 individuals per 100,000 people in Xizang who have received university education, and the average years of education for new entrants to the labor force have increased to 13.1 years.
