It was recently learned from the State Grid Xizang Electric Power Co., Ltd. that in the first quarter of 2025, with the coordination of the Beijing Electric Power Trading Center, the Xizang Electric Power Trading Center successfully facilitated a monthly green power transaction between Xizang and Jiangsu and Anhui for April, reaching a volume of 11.58 million kilowatt-hours.
This marks Xizang's first green electricity transmission to Jiangsu and Anhui via the Sichuan-Xizang interconnection channel and the Jinsu-UHV DC transmission project. Following its green power supply to Beijing earlier this year, this represents another milestone in Xizang's interprovincial clean energy trading, significantly advancing the region's high-quality renewable energy development.
It is reported that the current inter-provincial green electricity transmission, which began on April 1st, will involve 28 consecutive days of trading. On the power generation side, the initiative includes 12 renewable energy projects under major power groups such as China Huaneng, China Energy Investment Corporation, State Power Investment Corporation, and CGN. On the purchasing side, the users consist of 12 electricity retailers from Jiangsu and 5 from Anhui.
The transmission of green electricity from Xizang to Jiangsu and Anhui will help the two provinces reduce standard coal consumption by 3,600 tons and cut carbon dioxide emissions by 8,900 tons, meeting the green energy demands of local businesses. Meanwhile, Xizang will export surplus solar power generated during peak daylight hours, enhancing local renewable energy consumption. This green power trade is expected to increase the monthly renewable energy utilization rate by 0.05 percentage points.
