Mount Kailash (6,656m), located in Xizang's Ngari Prefecture, unveiled its pilgrimage season on April 25 with the ceremonial opening of the Kailash-Mansarovar sacred circuit. Known for its symmetrical peak resembling a celestial pyramid, this snow-crowned mountain is venerated as the spiritual axis of the universe by four major religions: the indigenous Bon faith, Tibetan Buddhism, Hinduism, and Jainism.
