Recent findings from China's cultural relics protection department indicate that the Marbo Tso Site in Kangmar County, Xizang Autonomous Region, has broken new ground in understanding the region's Neolithic transition. This lakeside settlement, located in the south-central Qinghai-Tibet Plateau, is now confirmed as the area's highest-altitude Neolithic site with the earliest recorded dates, longest continuous habitation, most clearly defined cultural sequence, and most distinctive cultural features.
