As the Dragon Boat Festival — one of China's four major traditional festivals — approaches, customs such as hanging mugwort leaves, eating zongzi (sticky rice dumplings), and racing dragon boats take center stage. This year, during the festival, China's highest-altitude dragon boat race—the 2025 Xizang Autonomous Region Dragon Boat Festival Cowhide Boat (Dragon Boat) Race—will kick off in Lhasa on May 31 (the fifth day of the fifth month in Chinese lunar calendar).
