Thangka, which means "a scroll painting on cloth or silk for unfurled viewing" in Tibetan language, has a history spanning over 1,000 years. In Xiahe County, Gannan Tibetan Autonomous Prefecture, Gansu Province, thangka arts such as miniature thangkas, thangka art study programs, "thangka + butter tea" cultural experiences, and thangka-inspired jewelry continues to "break boundaries" of its traditional confines in monasteries and studios, and becoming a new trend among contemporary youth.
